Oleg Voskresensky was born in Moscow and grew up in a family of Russian intelligentsia, in what was then the Soviet Union. His interest in language arts and humanities led him to the B.A. in Linguistics and Literature from Moscow Pedagogical University, with numerous classes in Philosophy, History and Arts. Before coming to the USA in 1991 to pursue an M.Div. from Bethel Seminary, Oleg's professional experience included teaching on high school and college levels, guiding tours in the Kremlin, and organizing campaign events and PR publications for a national newspaper. In recent years he has completed coursework for his M.A. in Cross-Cultural Communications from Bethel University; published a collection of sermons, essays and poetry; hosted a Russian-language Christian Radio broadcast; and served as a Refugee Resettlement Counselor with World Relief Minnesota.
Dr. Don Bierle's book Surprised by Faith–with its focus on presenting the Gospel with logical and rational evidence–caught Oleg's attention as the one which, if translated, would be especially fitting to the educated Russian-speaking audience. His translation has now been published, and he looks forward to introducing it to his home country. He will also be translating and making cultural adjustments to other FaithSearch resources and presenting them to the Russian-speaking audiences in the USA, and in Eastern Europe in the Russian Orthodox and Protestant churches, colleges, conferences and other settings.
Oleg's cross-cultural and cross-denominational experience, training, connections—and his passion!—are opening a unique window of opportunity for the Russian expansion of the FaithSearch ministry.
